IBF heavyweight champion Daniel DuBois (22-2, 21 KOs) plans to closely follow the face-to-face meeting between former WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) and WBC, IBO, WBA and WBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs).
“I still support Fury. I hope our guy will do it.”
“Usyk is capable. Fury should pounce on him and choke him out. Fury is also a skillful boxer, but it will be a great fight, and I will be there to fight the winner.”
We will remind, on the night of May 18-19, Usyk inflicted Tyson Fury's first defeat in his professional career in a fight that took place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). The victory was awarded to the Ukrainian by split decision: 115-112, 113-114 and 114-113.
Usyk and Fury signed an agreement for a second fight. The Gypsy King has officially activated the revenge option. The second fight between Oleksandr and Tyson will take place on December 21, 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman said he would seek the introduction of video replays in this fight. Oleksandr Usyk will be preparing for the rematch in a training camp in Valencia. The Ukrainian said that he involves scientists and psychologists in the training camp and is constantly looking for suitable sparring partners. Tyson Fury said he would start training six to seven weeks before the fight.
The first press conference and a duel of views between the boxers took place in London. Usyk appeared in public to the song “Ave Maria” in an extravagant image of the Hitman computer game character. Fury came out to the song “Barbie Girl”. The event was hosted by the legendary ring announcer Michael Buffer.
