Saturday 5TH September 2015

Emirates Arena, Glasgow

British International Open Championships and to the host City of Glasgow. The BKF is organising these Championships with grateful assistance from the Scottish Karate Governing Body Ltd, Glasgow Sports Council, and Glasgow Life. In 2014 we had 1150 entries from 19 countries and streamed the event to 42 countries. This tournament is growing in numbers an quality each year and we expect many coaches and athletes will view this championships as ideal preparation for the WKF Juniors in Jakarta later in the year.

By the time we compete in this championships the European Karate Federation will have many mber nations who participated in the inaugural European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan. These Games have the patronage of the European Olympic Committee and is the first time Karate has been invited to participate in an Olympic environment. The news that the IOC will modernise and expand the number of sports for Tokyo 2020 has given us renewed hope in our ambition to join the Olympic programme and it is vitaly important we support the WKF in this quest.

Coaches must be in Association tracksuits and clearly display their coaching ID badge. Inappropriate dress, as deemed by the Chief Referee, will be refused access to the competition area. Only coaches adhering to the correct dress code and in possession of a coaching pass will be allowed on the competition area. These will be issued at the event. Coaching passes will be at a ratio of 1:5. All coaches must provide his/her details to the Chief Referee. Please ensure your competitors leave the area when their category finishes
