PREREQUISITES Open to holders of 3 Dan and above. Must also have five years of karate experience

FEE ¥50,000 for three-week program (¥20,000 for one-week program)

SPONSOR Okinawa Prefectural Government and the Society for the Advancement of Traditional Okinawa Karate

This three-week seminar involves learning about three styles of karate, for five days each. This includes the styles associated with Shorin-Ryu (Shorin-Ryu itself, Shorinji-Ryu, and the Shorin-Ryu that is also known as Matsubayashi-Ryu), Goju-Ryu style, and Uechi-Ryu style. We also accept participants who want to join for just one week.

This seminar is for advanced-level karate learners and we train in traditional kata, bunkai, and yakusoku (prearranged) kumite from each school. On the last day of each seminar, we will offer a performance in which participants can demonstrate what they have learned during the seminar. The instructors will evaluate and give advice on the performance.

Week 1 [Shorin-Ryu Seminar]
From Monday January 19 to Friday January 23, 2015, 2pm to 5pm
Instructor: Zenpo Shimabukuro, Hanshi 10 Dan
Week 2 [Goju-Ryu Seminar]
From Monday January 26 to Friday January 30, 2015, 2pm to 5pm,
Instructor: Masaaki Ikemiyagi, Hanshi 9 Dan
Week 3 [Uechi-Ryu Seminar]
From Monday February 2 to Friday February 6, 2015, 2pm to 5pm,
Instructor: Kiyohide Shinjo, Hanshi 9 Dan

Information on visas and other documents

An invitation letter in order to apply for a visa can be provided by the Advancement of Traditional Okinawa Karate.
We do not issue identification cards.
